The CEO of a company that owns plants in three states where elevated levels of a chemical used to make Teflon coatings were found says its priority is providing safe drinking water to residents.
Tom Kinisky told The Associated Press on Friday that investigations are ongoing into how the chemical PFOA found its way into private wells near a Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics facility in Merrimack, New Hampshire; into wells near a former one in North Bennington, Vermont; and in the Hoosick Falls, New York, water supply, where it had a plant.
Kinisky said it's premature to say whether the company, which used PFOA to make its products, was the source of the contamination. But rather than wait for the results, the company wanted to "do whatever it takes to make sure residents have clean water."
