Authorities say a state corrections officer has been killed in crash on Interstate 90 that shut down most of the highway's lanes east of Albany for hours.
State police say a FedEx tandem tractor-trailer and a car collided in I-90's westbound lanes around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Rensselaer County town of East Greenbush. Both vehicles wound up in the median.
Police say the driver of the car, 22-year-old James Davis of Albany, was killed. Troopers say he was on his way home from work.
The truck driver wasn't injured.
The crash closed two of the highway's three lanes in each direction near Exit 9 for more than nine hours.
Snow and sleet was falling around the time of the accident, and troopers say it's believed the weather conditions were in a factor in the crash.
