A newspaper reporter who made national headlines when he was fired by the Hudson Register-Star has died.
26-year old Tom Casey was killed in the wee hours of July 3rd in a two-vehicle crash on Route 7 in Lee, Massachusetts. Authorities say Casey was southbound around 12:30 a.m. when his SUV drifted into the northbound lane, hitting the driver side of a pickup truck.
According to the Berkshire Eagle, the crash occurred on a notorious S-curve that has been the scene of several deadly crashes in recent years.
Police say Casey was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a Lenox man, was treated and released at Berkshire Medical Center. Casey was the news coordinator for the weekly Berkshire Record in Great Barrington.
