Brimfield, MA – MGM Resorts International is promising thousands of jobs from a proposed resort casino in a remote area of western Massachusetts. WAMC's Paul Tuthill reports...

Jim Murren, CEO of MGM Resorts, one of the largest casino companies in the world said they want to build a resort casino on 150 acres of wooded land in the tiny town of Brimfield.

"We're proud to announce our intention to develop a world-class resort in this remote corner of Brimfield, abutting the Mass Pike," said Murren.

The proposed casino would be surrounded by woods and accessible to the public only by a new ramp from Massachusetts turnpike. Murren said the casino would not negatively impact the character of the small town or lifestyles of its people.

MGM Resorts is the fourth major gaming company to publicly announce it will vie for the sole casino license available in Western Mass.
