Concord, NH – Repealing New Hampshire's gay marriage law is among the hot topics facing that legislature in 2012, but lawmakers might not vote on the issue until after the January 10th presidential primary. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more...

House Republican Leader D.J. Bettencourt says the N.H. House most likely won't cast its vote until January 11th or January 18th. Bettencourt says the presidential candidates should have the spotlight until after the primary.

When the legislature convenes January 4th, it will instead take up a handful of vetoed bills before taking up legislation held over from summer and fall.

The bill to repeal the gay marriage law would replace same-sex marriage with civil unions for any unmarried adults.

Other hot-button topics for N.H. lawmakers in 2012 include legalizing casinos and changing the Constitution to bar an income tax.
