Montpelier, VT – Some of the heavy hitters in baseball are going to bat for Vermont farms damaged by Irene. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more...

The effort includes an online auction at www.battingforvermont.com and a baseball discussion next month at Vermont Technical College with the general managers for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and others.

The auction includes memoraybilia donated by plaers and teams as well as a meet-and-greet with Detroit Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello and a round of golf with ESPN's John Kruk.

The funds raised will go to the Vermont farm disaster relief fund, set up by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture and the Vermont Community Foundation.

I'm Pat Bradley, WAMC News.
