Massachusetts Senators File Amendments to Gaming Bill

Boston, MA – Lawmakers in the Massachusetts Senate have filed several amendments to an expanded gaming bill they are expected to debate next week. WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...

The bill that would license three resort casinos and one slot parlor in the state. The Senate clerk's office was still filing amendments nearly three hours after yesterday afternoon's deadline.

Senator James Eldridge, a gaming opponent, filed amendments allowing more residents to vote on allowing a casino in a neighboring community. His other amendment would require casinos to provide health insurance to their employees.

The Acton Democrant says he is cocerned casinos will have negative economic impacts that mitigation fees may not cover.

The Senate can take up debate on the bill as early as September 26th.
