Boston, MA – Democrat Alan Khazei has officially announced he's going to run for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. WAMC's Paul Tuthill reports...

This will be Khazei's second run for the seat. He was one of the four candidates in the Democratic Primary won by Martha Coakley, who then went on to lose the January 2010 special election to Republican Scott Brown. Khazei announced Tuesday via social media and a recorded video.

Khazei who is the co-founder of the youth volunteer service program, City Year, plans a campaign stop in Springfield later in the week. He is the second Democrat to announce a senate candidacy. The other is Bob Massie, an activist, and a former Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.
