Utility Regulators Advised to Reject Phone Deal

Montpelier, VT – New Hampshire's consumer advocate has recommended that state utility regulators reject Verizon's plan to sell its land-line telephone service to Fairpoint Communications. The recommendation came shortly after Maine regulators were also advised to reject it. That is good news for opponents of the sale, which must be approved by regulators in all three affected states - Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
