Albany, NY – Last night, the New York state legislature voted to approve a state tax code reform plan introduced by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new code is expected to raise $1.9 billion for the state, less than the $3 billion expected to be next year's budget deficit.
On this edition of Vox Pop, E.J. McMahon, senior fellow at the Empire Center for New York State policy, and Frank Mauro, Executive Director of the Fiscal Policy Institute, react to the new tax code and tell us what they think the future holds for New York's finances. WAMC's Ray Graf hosts.
