Albany, NY – The past three months of social turmoil in the Middle East have led to the downfall of the leaders of Egypt and Tunisia, produced a violent revolt in Libya, and has brought about protests from Syria and Jordan, to Yemen and Bahrain. While support for greater democracy in the Arab world is growing in the United States, questions remain over whether the unrest will ultimately lead to democratic reform in the Middle East. On this edition of Vox Pop, WAMC's Ray Graf asks listeners if western-style democracy can take hold in the Middle East, and how this is most likely to occur, if at all.
