The national media spend a lot of time at the White House and Capitol Hill, while local reporters keep track of the events at the city halls and town and village government buildings. But what about the 50 state capitals?

A new report says the print and broadcast media is spending less time covering state government, with the number of reporters assigned to state government in a steady decline.

WAMC's Brian Shields spoke with Amy Mitchell, the Director of Journalism Research at the Pew Research Center.
