Albany, NY – During his lifetime, William Steig kept America laughing with more than 1600 drawings and 117 covers for The New Yorker. He also authored and illustrated more than 20 children's picture-books, including much-loved, mischievous tales like Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Dr. De Soto and Rotten Island, and Shrek, which has inspired feature-length animated films.
There is an exhibition of his work at the Norman Rockwell Museum now through Oct 31st. Joe Donahue speaks with Jeanne Steig, William Steig's widow, and Stephanie Plunkett, the curator of the museum....
