Albany, NY – Many characters in mystery fiction come and go-- meaning some die and some live. Well, Ian Rankin's main character, John Rebus, has been around for 20 years. The character was born in a ground floor apartment in Edinburgh, Scotland. Rankin's latest novel featuring Rebus is titled: The Naming of the Dead. Joe Donahue speaks with Rankin about how this novel came about.
