Albany, NY – THE HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND LAUNCHES NATIONAL CAMPAIGN -
In our feature story today - - U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, recently addressed the Annual National Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education. Secretary Duncan wants his department to help cut dropout rates and boost college enrollment for Hispanic Americans.
That's certainly music to the ears of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund is rolling out its national campaign this month to help Latino families plan for and succeed in college.
According to a recent Pew Hispanic Center study, many Hispanic youth are not pursuing a college degree because their parents do not understand the steps they themselves need to take, in order to help their children prepare for and apply to college.

ASTROBIOLOGY RESEARCH AND EDUCATION SERIES
"EXPLORING THE UTILITY OF Ca ISOTOPES AS A BIOSIGNATURE?"
Three weeks ago on The Best of Our Knowledge, we spoke with a research professor who studies ocean chemistry and how sea levels can affect our climate.
On this program, we have a geosciences professor who's studying how calcium isotopes can be used to trace signs of early life in Earth's oceans and how that may have impacted CO2 in the atmosphere and ultimately our global climate.
TBOOK talks with Dr. Matthew Fantle, Assistant Professor in the Geosciences Department, at Pennsylvania State University.
