  • "American Symphony," Oscar nominee Matthew Heineman’s moving portrait of the musician Jon Batiste as he experiences his greatest professional success (he dominated the 2022 Grammys) at the same time his wife faces her greatest personal challenge (she is battling leukemia), has been acquired by Netflix following a lengthy bidding war. Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground, which has a first-look deal with Netflix, is part of the project."American Symphony" will be part of Woodstock Film Festival on Saturday, September 30 at 10:15 a.m. at Tinker Street Cinema in Woodstock, New York.
  • Matthew Modine’s new short film “I Am What You Imagine” is a sensual exploration of the unexplainable. Featuring the voice talents of Ruby Modine and longtime Kubrick collaborator Leon Vitali (in his final performance), the film uses sound, music, and expressionistic imagery to take viewers on a journey of the heart and mind. The film will be shown at this weekend’s Woodstock Film Festival.
  • The Woodstock Film Festival is getting ready for its 24th Anniversary, September 27 - October 1, 2023, to be presented at venues throughout the Hudson Valley towns of Woodstock, Rosendale and Saugerties, and online.   • There will be a free screening of "The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks" at UPAC in Kingston, New York tonight at 7 p.m. The film takes a deeper dive into the groundbreaking actions spearheaded by Rosa Parks throughout the course of the civil rights movement. Acclaimed director Yoruba Richen will participate in an in-person Q&A following the screening and she joins us this morning.
  • Karen Allen who executive produced and stars in the film - "A Stage of Twilight" - is bowing at the Woodstock Film Festival on Friday, September 30th. In this final chapter of their marriage, Barry’s wife Cora, played by Karen Allen, struggles with his impending death and the decisions he makes about his final months.
  • David Strathairn stars in the film "Remember This" which will be part of the Woodstock Film Festival on 9/28 - featuring a Q&A with Strathairn and the filmmakers. The film will also screen as part of The Adirondack Film Festival on 10/15.
  • The Woodstock Film Festival will celebrate its 23rd Anniversary September 28 through October 2. Films and industry panels will be presented at venues throughout the Hudson Valley in the towns of Woodstock, Kingston, Rosendale, and Saugerties – and online.
  • The Woodstock Film Festival returns to the Rosendale Theatre on May 5th for a special fundraiser and screening of the 2021 documentary National Museum, directed by award-winning Ukrainian filmmaker Andrei Zagdansky. National Museum explores the art and inner workings of the major art institution in Kiev, Ukraine. Restoration specialists, curators, art handlers, designers and, of course, visitors are fascinating characters in this unhurried, poignant and occasionally funny survey of what is cherished and revered by the nation of forty-five million.Curating, mounting and opening of two special exhibitions – one dedicated to the Ukrainian baroque and another one to a prominent avant-garde artist, Alexander Bogomazov –are the defining events in the narrative structure of the film. We welcome filmmaker Andrei Zagdansky.
  • The 22nd Annual Woodstock Film Festival is on in the Hudson Valley through this coming Sunday, October 3. One of the featured films is a new documentary about the legendary conductor and composer, Leonard Bernstein. In “Bernstein’s Wall,” filmmaker Douglas Tirola uses primarily Bernstein’s own voice and video recordings to describe and explain his life -- his life in the music and art world and the world at large.
  • Using ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jeffery Robinson’s groundbreaking talk on the history of anti-Black racism in America as a springboard, "Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America," interweaves present-day and historical archival footage, Robinson’s personal story, and interviews capturing Robinson’s meetings with change-makers and eyewitnesses, to capture the enduring legacy of white supremacy and our collective responsibility to overcome it.The film is showing at the upcoming Woodstock Film Festival and we will get a preview.
