The New York state Department of Public Service held two public hearings Wednesday on an application to repower the Danskammer power plant in Orange County’s Town of Newburgh, along the Hudson River. Two New York state lawmakers from the Hudson Valley have introduced a bill to close a loophole that allows sex offenders to live near daycare facilities.

Newburgh Elected Officials Push The Need For A Casino

Two elected officials in Orange County have sent a letter to members of the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board, inviting them to tour an area they say needs a casino. At the same time, a new study is out on casinos in Sullivan County.

City of Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy acknowledged the Catskills’ need for a casino.

Both the City and Town of Newburgh held special meetings Wednesday night, in relation to a proposed casino that would be located in the town.
