A first-term New York state Senator and her Republican opponent took part in an Orange County Citizens Foundation debate Monday. Democrat Jen Metzger is seeking re-election in the 42nd District, which had been in Republican hands for years before John Bonacic did not seek re-election in 2018.

A state senator has introduced a bill to help New York meet its climate goals by reducing truck and bus emissions.

Following many calls to hold graduations outdoors, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday he will permit such ceremonies beginning at the end of the month.

New York state Senate Democrats and others are calling on Governor Andrew Cuomo to follow New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s lead when it comes to graduations. Murphy said Tuesday that graduations can take place beginning July 6 in person, outdoors and adhering to social distancing guidelines.
