An Orange County man Thursday was sentenced for fatally stabbing his wife. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler says that 52-year-old Leonard Salters, of Highland Falls, was sentenced to 18 years to life in state prison for stabbing his wife to death. The District Attorney’s Office had recommended that Salters be sentenced to twenty years to life. In August, Salters pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the June 2014 stabbing. On the date of the stabbing, neighbors in Salters’ apartment building heard a commotion and called police.

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder in the fatal stabbing of a fellow student inside a Connecticut high school.

Milford police said the defendant was charged Friday as a juvenile offender. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in New Haven and could later be charged as an adult.

Police also executed a search warrant at the home of the suspect, whose name has not been released because of juvenile offender laws.
