With some new precautions, public libraries in New York are preparing to reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic forced their shutdown in March.

COVID-19 was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and has now been detected in 37 locations across the globe, including in the U.S., according to the CDC.

Albany Public Library Gets New Executive Director

On Monday, the Albany Public Library will have a new executive director. Scott Jarzombek, 38, who began his library career in the Albany system, returns June 23rd after leading the library in North Castle in Westchester County. He will replace Carol Nersinger who is retiring. Scott Jarzombek spoke to WAMC about the biggest challenge facing libraries today.
