There has been a shakeup in the race for mayor of Troy just one week before Election Day.

Officials in Rensselaer County are combatting the recently signed Green Light Bill, a state law that allows undocumented immigrants the ability to apply for a driver’s license. The officials say they will provide voter registration data to federal immigration authorities.

The Troy City Council has once again tabled a vote on a Sanctuary City resolution.

The clock is ticking for residents of Schodack, New York who oppose a $100 million dollar Amazon distribution center planned for the town.

Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin says the county will take whatever legal steps it can to stop the City of Troy from becoming a so-called sanctuary city. The City Council is expected to vote on the measure in June. McLaughlin, a Republican, tells WAMC those behind the proposal do not have the pulse of the people.
