A New York state Supreme Court judge has denied a petition from Bard College to move an off-campus polling site to its Annandale-on-Hudson campus. Bard had filed suit against the Dutchess County Board of Elections in September, alleging unsafe conditions at the current polling site and voter suppression.

Mary Stuart Masterson and Jeremy Davisdon are producing a new Storyhorse Documentary Theater piece on Veterans Day Weekend (November 8, 9, 10). It is called "Rancich" and is based on recorded conversations with Navy SEAL Commander Tom Rancich and his family from Red Hook.

Tom was head of Naval Special Operations Forces in Afghanistan and his family’s journey with the military and PTSD is an important story to share. The theatre is producing the piece four times next weekend - all as a benefit for the VFW in Red Hook, including one “Pay What You Wish” performance.

To tell us more we welcome: Brian Williams, Commander of VFW Post 7765 in Red Hook, who served with the Marine Corps in Desert Shield and Desert Storm and is also a veteran of the NYPD.

Jeremy Davidson and Mary Stuart Masterson are co-founders of Storyhorse Documentary Theater. Davidson is the writer of "Rancich" and Masterson is directing.

Federal funding is headed to a village in Dutchess County for water system upgrades.

There is nothing like a good literary festival, especially when it takes over an entire municipality.

The 3rd Annual Read Local Red Hook Literary Festival will take place next weekend, April 11th and 12th, throughout the village. The festival is full of free events celebrating local authors and featuring the likes of James Romm, Valerie Martin and Gail Godwin.

We get a preview this morning from two of the organizers - Suzanna Hermans of Oblong Books and Music and Juliet Harrison of Red Hook Community Arts Network.

This year’s Read Local! Red Hook Literary Festival takes place this Friday through Sunday.

The fest will include “Stories on Stage” Hudson Valley Actors Read Hudson Valley Authors; I Want to Be in a Band! – a Music & Movement Program for kids featuring author and musician Suzzy Roche, and illustrator Giselle Potter; Telling Stories: Conversations with Fiction Writers featuring Owen King, Kelly Braffet, Frank Delaney, and Marshall Karp – and much much more! All events are free and open to the public.

Suzanna Hermans, Co-Owner of Oblong Books and Music; Helen Seslowsky, event coordinator, and author and broadcaster, Frank Delaney, join us.
