New York State, the fourth most populous state in the country, is divided into eleven different regions. Pair that with the state’s diverse geography – the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains, lowlands, eleven finger lakes, and borders of two great lakes – and one can understand the variety of brewing styles across New York.

As breweries from across NYS are meeting this week at the State Capitol, we meet several brewers from across our region. To discuss all the happening in the industry, we welcome Chris Ericson of Lake Placid Pub and Brewery and Big Slide Brewery and president of the New York State Brewers Association, Author and Culinary Institute of America Professor John Fischer from the Brewery at The Culinary Institute of America, and Kevin Mullen of Rare Form Brewing Company.

The New York State Brewers Association will be holding their sixth annual New York Craft Brewers Festival this Saturday March 9th at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. The New York Craft Brewers Festival brings together 70 New York Breweries (and brewers) from every region of the state featuring up to 150+ hard to find and award winning beers.

This is a great opportunity to meet the NYS brewers that make the beer, and the owners of the local food scene in the Capital District that are such an important part of the community.

We welcome - Paul Leone, Executive Director New York State Brewers Association. We also welcome Kevin Mullen from Rare Form Brewing Company in Troy, and Rich Michaels from the new Frog Alley Brewing in Schenectady.

The 5th Annual New York Craft Brewers Festival will take place on Saturday, March 3 at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, New York. The Festival brings together over 60 New York Breweries (and brewers) from every region of the state featuring up to 150+ hard to find and award winning beers.

To tell us more about the festival and craft beer in general we welcome two of the participants: John Fischer from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and Kevin Mullen from Rare Form Brewing.
