   A billionaire liberal activist is bringing his national campaign to oust President Donald Trump to western Massachusetts today. 

         Springfield will host the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s issues convention in September. The city’s mayor, who is a Democrat, will not be participating.

Former President George H.W. Bush is being honored with funeral services at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. The 41st president will be eulogized by his son, former President George W. Bush, as well as a former U.S. senator and a former Canadian prime minister. Dozens of U.S. and world leaders are expected to attend the service.

Polls show the governor’s race in New York narrowing a bit, as the candidates made their final pitch to voters.

Democrats are leading in the polls in New York’s statewide races for governor, attorney general and comptroller. The most heated contests this Election Day are in the state Senate, where Democrats are trying to win enough seats to take control of the chamber away from the Republicans.

One of the major party candidates in the race for New York governor has issued a “civility challenge," asking his opponents to refrain from all negative ads and attacks from now until Election Day.

The next attorney general of the state of New York is very likely to make history. Both Tish James, the Democratic candidate and current New York City public advocate, and the Republican candidate — bankruptcy lawyer Keith Wofford — are African-American. But the two hold different views on many topics.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and his Republican opponent, Marc Molinaro, have agreed to a televised debate on CBS2 in New York City at 7 p.m. Tuesday, after weeks of wrangling. But not everyone is satisfied.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican challenger Chele Farley are set to debate at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs ahead of November’s midterm elections. The debate, which both campaigns agreed to last month, is set for October 21 at 7 p.m. at the college’s Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall.

The Republican challenging Democratic U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts has released the first TV ad of the campaign. 

    After a successful write-in campaign to secure the Democratic nomination in Massachusetts’ Hampshire, Franklin, and Worcester Senate District, Jo Comerford’s name will be on the ballot in November.

The mayor of the largest city in western Massachusetts has declared publically he plans to run for re-election in 2019.

      Massachusetts Republican Gov. Charlie Baker has been endorsed for reelection by Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, a Democrat.


      Winds of change may have blown over some of the Massachusetts political landscape Tuesday, but a longtime incumbent prevailed in a Democratic primary for Congress in the western part of the state.

       One of the most watched races in western Massachusetts next Tuesday will be for the Democratic nomination in the state’s 1st Congressional District.  Many see in it elements of the national struggle over the future of the Democratic Party.
