For the People Act

Democrats and advocates are pushing the U.S. Senate to pass major voting rights and ethics reform legislation called the For the People Act. The House passed the legislation in early March. Lower Hudson Valley Congressman Mondaire Jones recently hosted a Facebook town hall with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar on the legislation Jones has championed since taking office in January.

The U.S. House is set to begin debating H.R. 1 this week. The For the People Act is intended to expand voting rights. On Monday, Vermont at-large Congressman Peter Welch held a virtual roundtable with the Green Mountain state’s election officials and civic advocates to discuss the implications of the bill.

New York Congressman Antonio Delgado held a virtual town hall Wednesday. The Democrat from the 19th District answered a variety of questions, with some focused on frustration with getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
