Four candidates for governor of New York excluding incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo met for a debate last night in Albany. The forum hosted by the League of Women Voters covered a variety of topics and several upstate issues. As WAMC’s Southern Adirondack Bureau Chief Lucas Willard reports, the candidates were asked about how they would address emerging contaminants.

One of the major party candidates in the race for New York governor has issued a “civility challenge," asking his opponents to refrain from all negative ads and attacks from now until Election Day.

The general election for New York governor is heating up, with the Republican candidate, Marc Molinaro, calling for the resignation of a former advisor to Democrat Andrew Cuomo, while the sitting governor rallied against President Trump.

With New York’s Democratic gubernatorial primary decided, candidates from other parties are gearing up for the general election. One is Republican Marc Molinaro, who launched what he dubs a “Cuomo Corruption Tour” the day after Governor Andrew Cuomo’s win. A Siena college poll finds New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is securely ahead of his challengers, Democrat Cynthia Nixon and Republican Marc Molinaro in his reelection bid. Meanwhile, Cuomo is using some of his substantial $30 million campaign war chest to promote an anti-gun violence measure.


Five months before Election Day, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is looking strong to win a third term, according to the latest Siena poll released this morning.

The Republican candidate for New York governor, Marc Molinaro, is proposing term limits of two four-year terms for statewide offices, including the office of governor, and 12-year limits for state lawmakers.

Actor Cynthia Nixon, who is running for New York governor in a Democratic primary against incumbent Andrew Cuomo, released her tax filings on Friday. She and her spouse earned $1.9 million dollars last year, and paid nearly $200,000 in taxes.

Marc Molinaro, the presumptive Republican candidate for New York governor, released his tax returns for 2017 Thursday, but his opponent, incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo, raised the stakes, saying his GOP challenger should release ten years of tax returns.

Andrew Cuomo has two main challengers in the New York gubernatorial race, Cynthia Nixon on the left and Marc Molinaro on the right. Surprisingly the two agree on a number of key items as they make their case against the incumbent governor, including a laser -like focus on the incumbent governor’s perceived weaknesses.

Challengers to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo were on the campaign trail Thursday, as the Democrat announced a massive new anti-poverty program in Brooklyn. Democratic candidate Cynthia Nixon visited the Finger Lakes to voice her opposition to a controversial proposed liquefied natural gas plant on Seneca Lake.

Construction Begins On Walkway Elevator

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 21-story elevator is going to take visitors to the Walkway Over the Hudson from the Poughkeepsie side of the linear park later this year.

Public officials, Walkway representatives and volunteers ceremonially broke ground for the $2.4 million facility.

Walkway Executive Director Elizabeth Waldstein-Hart said they are elated to be adding yet another asset to the Walkway State Park.
