Professional lacrosse is returning to Albany’s Times Union Center after almost two decades.

Like many professional sports organizations, the Premier Lacrosse League is adjusting to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the league’s 2019 inaugural season involved teams touring the country playing games, including a stop in Albany last August, the PLL is instead holding a two-week fanless tournament near Salt Lake City starting Saturday.

A new professional lacrosse league is heading to Albany this weekend. It will be a homecoming of sorts for a number of former University at Albany players.

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Police say one person is dead after an upstate New York wreck involving a bus carrying a college lacrosse team from Vermont.

Transportation officials say the accident happened just before noon Tuesday on Interstate 87 in Saratoga County, about 150 miles north of New York City.

State police say a person in one of two other vehicles involved has died. Police tell local media outlets the injuries on the bus were minor.
