The Gloversville Enlarged School District is taking action to address a contaminated playing field next to one of its elementary schools.

New York State Police say they have arrested the recently reelected mayor of Gloversville. Dayton King is facing a misdemeanor official misconduct charge. Police say he used his public office to gain access to the personnel information of a city firefighter, Bill Rowback Jr. Rowback was King’s opponent in the Republican mayoral primary and general election and was thought to have unseated King until a recount reversed the result.

After some Election Day confusion, Gloversville will keep its incumbent mayor for another four years after all. But the mayor is not promising a better relationship with the local Republican Party, which he has left.

Republican primary winner Bill Rowback Jr. defeated incumbent Republican Mayor Dayton King, 54 to 45 percent.
