Catskill Interpretive Center Has A New Name

There has been a name change at one of the locations of the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development in New York.

The New York State Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with Parks & Trails New York for the annual “I Love My Park Day.” 

Volunteers are expected to participate in conservation events statewide Saturday.

Three decades after Maurice Hinchey suggested the idea, a Catskill Interpretive Center finally opened this summer. The Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center is located on 62 acres in Mount Tremper and is the first information center dedicated to the Catskill Park. Michael Drillinger, the coordinator at the center, explains how it all came together and why it bears the name of the former state lawmaker and Congressman.
