The Capital Region Chamber hosted a forum with Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan this week.


Reopening the economy is an important step to a return to some degree of normalcy, according to two New York state Assemblymembers who held a virtual town hall Thursday to brainstorm with business leaders.

Fahy kicked off the Zoom session, dubbed "Moving Forward: Adapting Your Job Search and Career Transitioning During COVID-19."

With much of the American economy effectively shut down, Albany area state Democratic Assemblymembers Pat Fahy and John McDonald held a virtual town hall Thursday on career transitioning during the pandemic.

The chamber of commerce has come a long way over the years from a collection of main street businesses in a community. Now they include small, medium and large businesses such as retail, high-tech, the service industry, law firms and many others. The newly elected chair of the Capital Region Chamber is Richard Sleasman, president and managing director of the commercial real estate firm CBRE Albany.

Elected officials, law enforcement and local business leaders gathered today in downtown Albany to celebrate the launch of ride-hailing apps in the Capital Region, now legal across New York, ahead of the July 4th weekend.
