New York state lawmakers from Westchester County are letting the governor of Connecticut know they oppose his proposed toll increase on an interstate highway.

A fourth Democrat has entered the race for a congressional seat in New York’s lower Hudson Valley. Westchester County resident Allison Fine announced Thursday she will run for the 17th District seat held by Democrat Nita Lowey, who is not seeking re-election after 16 terms.  WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne spoke with Fine about why she’s entering the race.

NYS Senator Carlucci Enters Congressional Race

New York state Senator David Carlucci made it official Monday morning: he will run to replace fellow Democrat Nita Lowey, who is not seeking re-election to the U.S. House after 16 terms. He joins a few other Democrats already in the field. WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne spoke with Carlucci this morning shortly after he made the announcement via video.

With winter approaching, municipal officials in Westchester County met this week with the president of Con Edison to see what measures the utility company is implementing to avoid a repeat of March. That was when two storms left thousands in the region without power for days.  In May, a coalition of Westchester leaders presented Con Ed with a report that contained recommendations. Con Ed says it is responding.
