Former World No. 1 Tiger Woods says he is facing a "tedious and long" recovery after his second surgery on his back a month ago. Woods hasn't won since the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational for his 79th career win on the PGA Tour, just three short of the record held by Sam Snead. He has 14 majors, four back of Jack Nicklaus, but hasn't won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open.

The Royal and Ancient, the organizing body of the Open, has announced that the Open will be held at Royal Portrush in 2019. It last hosted the Open Championship in 1951.

NFL:

The New York Jets have promoted wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins to the active roster from the practice squad. The move comes after the NFL suspended wide receiver Quincy Enunwa for four games for violating the league's personal conduct policy in an incident last year.

Landry Jones had his first regular-season NFL action last week, helping the Pittsburgh Steelers beat Arizona 25-13. Now, it looks as if he will make his first start this week. Coach Mike Tomlin says the team is preparing for Sunday's game against the Chiefs at Kansas City as if Jones will be the starting quarterback.

The New England Patriots are looking to start the season at 6-0 for the third time in team history. They host the New York Jets Sunday in a battle for first place in the AFC East. This week's game will be the first of two games against the Jets this season.

Bills:

The Buffalo Bills have placed receiver Marquise Goodwin on the season-ending reserved-injured list and signed offensive tackle Jordan Mills.

The moves were announced Tuesday as the Bills (3-3) scramble to address a banged-up roster while they're in London preparing to play the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Goodwin is out after hurting his ribs in a 34-21 loss to Cincinnati last weekend.

Mills was signed off the Detroit Lions practice squad, and spent the previous two seasons playing for Chicago. He adds depth to a line after starting right tackle Seantrel Henderson sustained a concussion against Cincinnati.

The Bills also shuffled their practice squad roster by signing receiver Titus Davis and releasing quarterback Dustin Vaughan.

Pitino has denied knowledge of the activities that Powell alleges in her book.

The matches will be played on an outdoor hard court.

Hawaii is the 16th state to host the Fed Cup. It previously held Davis Cup matches in 1992.

NYC Marathon:

The New York City Marathon is less than two weeks away —an event that had modest beginnings 45 years ago with just 127 runners doing laps around Central Park.

Today over 50,000 people from around the world participate in the 26.2-mile event through all five boroughs.

A new exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York looks at the marathon's history as seen through the lens of runners and spectators.

It showcases 120 images culled from thousands of entries by amateur and professional photographers. It also includes historic footage.

Visitors will learn fun facts. For example, runners discard 26 tons of clothing during the first few miles. Volunteers collect and donate the clothes to charity.

The show opens Tuesday and runs through March 8, 2016.

FIFA:

FIFA's audit chief has told The Associated Press that Sepp Blatter's decision to authorize a payment to Michel Platini without a written contract is a "classic conflict of interest."

Domenico Scala says FIFA president Blatter could be culpable of "falsification" of accounts over the 2011 payment of about $2 million to Platini, another high ranking soccer official, who is running to succeed Blatter.
