Sports Report: Washington Tops Cowboys 20-17

NFL:

Kai Forbath hit a 40-yard field goal with 5:17 gone in overtime before Washington stopped the Cowboys on downs to complete a 20-17 victory at Dallas. Colt McCoy had another impressive showing since becoming the Redskins' quarterback, completing 25 of 30 for 299 yards. McCoy also ran for a seven-yard touchdown to cap an 80-yard drive that put Washington ahead 17-10 in the fourth quarter.

New York Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason will miss the rest of the season because of a foot injury. The Giants say Beason will need surgery to repair his injured right foot. The procedure has not yet been scheduled.

Rex Ryan has announced that Michael Vick will start at quarterback over Geno Smith in the New York Jets' game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Ryan says the decision "isn't any long-term deal or whatever," but adds that it's "the right decision for this time."

NHL:

The New York Rangers scored five goals in the third period to earn a 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild. Anthony Duclair tied the game with his first NHL goal, 37 seconds before Mats Zuccarello put the Rangers ahead with 3:11 remaining. The Wild entered the final period with a 3-0 lead after outshooting the Rangers 24-8.

Elsewhere Edmonton blanked Montreal 3-0.

MLB:

The World Series is back in Kansas City when the Royals take on the San Francisco Giants for Game 6 tonight at 8. The Giants lead the 7 game series 3 games to 2 and are one victory away from their third World Series title in five years.

NCAA:

Florida State running back Karlos Williams is the target of an investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department into an alleged domestic assault case in which Williams is being investigated for assaulting his girlfriend.
