"Woodstock Soundout" Will Pay Tribute To Pete Seeger

There is a concert tonight in Ulster County celebrating the music of the late Pete Seeger on what would have been his 95th birthday.

Longtime Pete Seeger friend Happy Traum will host the Woodstock Soundout, billed as a tribute to a folk music legend and the common man. The Woodstock Soundouts, which date back to 1967, provided the template for the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

The Soundout: The Music of Pete Seeger will feature Tracy Bonham, Cindy Cashdollar, Josh Ritter, Jay Unger and Molly Mason, Eric Weissberg, and more.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, with the Woodstock Day School ensemble performing at 7. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Woodstock Day School’s Annual Fund and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, which Seeger founded. Seeger and his wife Toshi, who died in July, co-founded the annual Clearwater Festival.
