A county health department in New York’s Hudson Valley is the latest entity to announce help for residents with the new health insurance marketplace under President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Beginning Tuesday, Westchester residents and small business owners in need of assistance with the new New York State of Health Marketplace may visit certified navigators at 25 locations throughout the county. These navigators are state certified to provide confidential services and help residents evaluate their eligibility, give information about available subsidies, compare options and help with enrollment in health insurance plans. Navigator services will be provided at no cost and available at a number of libraries and government and healthcare agency offices, as well as by appointment at other locations. Tuesday, October 1, is the first day of open enrollment for a new health insurance plan on the exchange.
