Westchester County Exec, Company Assist TSA Workers During Shutdown

Westchester County Executive George Latimer and the company that manages Westchester County Airport are teaming up to help TSA and air traffic control workers amid the record-long partial government shutdown.

Latimer and AvPorts officials say assistance includes giving advances for gasoline fill-ups for employees who cannot afford gas to get to work; providing small, interest-free loans from AvPorts to employees who are in danger of missing rent, car or mortgage payments; and offering part-time security positions through AvPorts for employees who may need extra income to make ends meet. Latimer and AvPorts had already been providing meal vouchers to Transportation Security Administration workers who have been working without pay.
