The acting district attorney in Saratoga County has announced a special prosecutor will handle the case against a former Saratoga County sheriff’s deputy who allegedly slapped a civilian earlier this month.

Saratoga County Acting District Attorney Karen Heggen announced Wednesday that Washington County District Attorney Tony Jordan will handle the case against former Deputy Shawn Glans, who resigned from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office after being caught on video taken by 21-year-old Adam Robert allegedly slapping 20-year old Colin Fitch.

Glans was charged with official misconduct and second-degree harassment.

In an unrelated incident, Fitch was charged this week after an encounter with a security officer at the Wilton mall, where Fitch allegedly nearly ran a vehicle into him.
