Voters in Clifton Park in southern Saratoga County today will decide the future of 34 acres of undeveloped land that supporters want to see transformed into a park. In April, Clifton Park residents rejected the sale of the land owned by the Shenendehowa School District to a local developer. The developer had proposed using half of the land for a supermarket and donating half back to the town.
The district had intended to use the money from the sale to potentially purchase property in neighboring Halfmoon for a new elementary school.
In September, the town announced its plan to purchase the two parcels from the school district for $1.1 million.
If approved by voters today, the town will use the land for a park and open space.
