Vermont Officials Warn Drivers That Moose On The Move

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is warning drivers to be alert for moose crossing the state’s roads.

Peak breeding season is late September and the first two weeks of October.  Moose are more likely to be crossing roadways during this time of year especially after dark or early in the morning.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department warns that moose will cross roads randomly, not just where posted.  If a moose is in the road the department advises drivers to slow down or stop and not try to speed past the animal.

While most roads frequented by moose are rural, Interstate 91 at Sheffield Heights and Interstate 89 from Bolton to Montpelier are listed as areas drivers should be particularly alert for moose.
