Vermont Officials Provide Coronavirus Update

Vermont Statehouse-Coronavirus

It was a month ago today that Vermont Governor Phil Scott issued his original State of Emergency to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. During his regular briefing Monday, Scott praised Vermonters for their patience but said it is too soon to back away from mitigation measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Republican Governor Phil Scott extended restrictions until May 15th and reiterated he will not lift them until science and data show it is appropriate.  “We will continue to watch the trend and our hospital capacities.”

Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine reported that as of Sunday there were 21 additional positive cases, and in Vermont’s general population there are no outbreaks or spikes in the virus.  “The number of new cases per day is getting smaller. We’ll see if that is a sustained phenomenon.”

A work group has been formed to determine the appropriate use of antibody tests.
