Vermont Law School Report Indicates State Energy Policy Needs Work

One conclusion in a new report from Vermont Law School finds that Vermont gets zero percent of its power from renewable energy.
The report by students from the school's energy clinic concludes that because Vermont allows the sale of the environmental attributes from renewables out of state, it cannot claim the power it uses is renewable.

Ben Walsh, energy advocate with the Vermont Public Interest Research Group, says the law school points out a problem on its way to a solution. Beginning in January, Vermont will have a law requiring utilities to get a set amount of their power from renewable sources. Walsh says that should address the problem.
