Vermont’s four gubernatorial candidates outlines different approaches to making child care more affordable and accessible to young families during a forum hosted Wednesday by children's advocacy groups.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Sue Minter said she'd seek to build child care facilities at or near Community College of Vermont campuses to help young parents continue their educations.

Vermont Public Radio reports that Democrat Matt Dunne would focus on ensuring that small increases in income for parents don't dramatically reduce the state child care subsidies.

Republican Bruce Lisman says he can't promise any specific funding proposals but would be sensitive to the needs of young parents trying to make their way in the workforce.

Republican Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott says he'd focus more broadly on issues of affordability.
