Vassar President To Leave Earlier Than Planned

The president of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, who announced in March she would conclude her presidency in June 2017, is leaving earlier.

Catharine Hill will end her presidency with Vassar College after ten years August 15 as she has accepted the position of managing director of Ithaka S+R and begins in September. Ithaka S+R is the research and strategy arm of New York City-based ITHAKA, a not-for-profit educational organization. The chair of the college’s Board of Trustees says the Board has unanimously elected Jonathan Chenette to serve as Interim President as the college continues its search for its eleventh president. Chenette is Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Music at Vassar. He was Acting President of the college during President Hill’s sabbatical in the spring of 2013.
