The Trump administration has dropped tariffs on Canadian aluminum imports, a move being praised by Canada and U.S. border businesses.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said Tuesday that the U.S. is ending the 10% tariffs but the statement said they could be re-imposed if imports surge.

Canadian Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland says the U.S unilaterally lifted the tariffs retroactive to September 1st.  “There are no guarantees going forward. Were tariffs to be imposed in the future on Canadian aluminum we will retaliate with a reciprocal dollar-for-dollar retaliation.”
