Some of the top federal law enforcement officials in Vermont say they are going to continue working with state and local police to fight trafficking of illegal narcotics that has led to levels of addiction in the city of Rutland that the local police chief called "mind boggling."

In a Monday news conference at the federal courthouse in Rutland, U.S. Attorney Tristram Coffin, Rutland Police Chief James Baker and others said they are going to work hard this summer to fight drug trafficking. Baker said high addiction levels have led to what he described as "chaos" in some of neighborhoods.

Coffin is planning to host a similar meeting next week in Burlington.
