Upstate Artists Guild

The Upstate Artists Guild is a not-for-profit volunteer organization, open to all, which promotes the appreciation, practice, and enjoyment of art. Their mission is to promote art education and artistic endeavors throughout the community; to maintain a space in which to meet for the purpose of exhibitions, lectures, and instruction; and to work with the community to stimulate an interest in the arts.

Their June show is The People's Choice Show, a Salon style exhibition where all artwork is accepted. The art will be on display June 6th through the 27th and runs in conjunction with ART ON LARK which takes place on Saturday 6/7.

Albany’s 1st Friday is administered by the Upstate Artists Guild and aims to introduce a wider audience to the unique vitality of the artists and venues of Albany. 1st Friday promotes interest in the arts by making it accessible, thereby strengthening the arts community in Albany.

Here to tell us more are Tammy Maddalla, First Friday Coordinator, Rebecca Schoonmaker, Founding Member & Gallery Manager, and Nina Stanley, Founding Member and current Secretary of the Guild.

In a radio career that has spanned nearly 35 years, Ray Graf has done it all. At one time or another he worked as an overnight board operator, a commercial copywriter, a reporter and a voiceover announcer. For several years - a lifetime ago - he was a morning drive disc jockey. Graf has been a member of the WAMC News team for 16 years. These days, he finds himself as The Roundtable's news anchor, panelist- and occasional guest host for Joe Donahue. "Radio news is not always easy," said Graf of his most recent radio vocation, "but it's not nearly as difficult as spinning a Michael Bolton record at 5:45 in the morning and pretending you're happy about it."
