Update: Skidmore Student From Lenox Killed In Accident

Police say a drunk driver hit three Skidmore students who were walking near the college Saturday night, killing one. Skidmore College said Sunday afternoon the deceased student is freshman Michael Hedges of Lenox, Mass. First-year students Toby Freeman of New York City and Oban Galbraith of Shelburne, Vermont are in intensive care at Albany Medical Center, according to the college.

Saratoga County Sheriff's deputies arrested 64-year-old Thomas Gorman of Saratoga Springs and charged him with first-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. Gorman is being held at the Saratoga County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail.

Members of Skidmore's Counseling Center staff will be available in Wilson Chapel from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday and in the Counseling Center from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The college plans to hold a campus gathering at 8 p.m. Monday.
