A hub for non-profit community groups in Pittsfield, Massachusetts will reopen next month.

Director of Community Development Deanna Ruffer says the Tyler Street Lab – which closed at its 730 Tyler Street location last year – will reopen in July before moving down the street to a new location at 741 Tyler Street.

“That space will include some private offices, a whole wing for the gaming lounge, as well as a public gathering area and a learning lab,” said Ruffer.

The lab was launched in spring 2019. Its newest incarnation will be funded with a combination of state aid, a Berkshire Bank grant, and leftover funding. Mill Town Capital is offering the project a below-market value all-inclusive rental rate at its new location.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
