Two Groups Conserve Land On Fishkill Ridge

Two land preservation groups in New York have conserved 51 acres in the Hudson Valley.

Environmental group Scenic Hudson and the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, or HHLT, conserved the land in the Hudson Highlands, securing views from the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, the Hudson River and other viewpoints in Beacon and Newburgh. The property being conserved is on the western slope of Fishkill Ridge in Dutchess County. The deal creates the potential for new public trails with scenic views. Conservation of the property also protects the health of the broader forested landscape within the Hudson Highlands that provides habitat for several species. The land deal is part of Scenic Hudson’s ongoing Saving the Land That Matters Most campaign and HHLT’s Legacy Landscapes Project.
