The Troy City Council Tuesday night approved an almost $75 million budget for 2020, and for the average homeowner, it will cost about $78 more in taxes and a solid waste collection fee.
The budget is up $1.2 million from last year. Democratic Mayor Patrick Madden says that is due mostly to mandated costs and obligations including contracts with city employees and contributions to the police and fire department pensions. Madden spoke with WAMC’s Brian Shields Wednesday morning.
Republican City Council President Carmella Mantello criticized the increased garbage fee included in the budget.
